Our Approach

Build it — and take responsibility for it

Most AI curricula teach students to use AI. AgenticEd teaches them to build agents and to govern them — the two skills the field actually hires for.

AgenticEd's distinctive contribution is a build-plus-govern pedagogy: every week pairs a hands-on building skill with a responsible-AI decision, so students graduate able to both create an agent and answer for what it does.

Why this is different

Introductory AI education usually stops at literacy — "here's what AI is, here's how to prompt it." Agent-building is rarely taught below the university level, and when it is, accountability is treated as a separate ethics unit bolted on at the end. AgenticEd integrates the two: governance isn't a final lecture, it's a thread woven through all six weeks, framed in plain language any beginner owns.

The responsible-AI thread, week by week

  1. Week 1 — "Who owns this agent's decisions?" plants accountability.
  2. Week 2 — Hallucination vs. misinformation: when is being wrong harmful?
  3. Week 3 — Grounding & retrieval: answering from real sources, not invention.
  4. Week 4 — Oversight by design: human-approval checkpoints in the pipeline.
  5. Week 5 — Demo Day's three accountability questions pay it all off.
  6. Week 6 — Ethics, safety, and careers in responsible AI.

Who it's for

Everyone. The course assumes no prior AI or coding experience, so it works for high-school classrooms (AP CS Principles, Intro to AI, electives), college students, career-switchers, self-learners, and community programs alike — with a deliberate focus on equity. The access design and the emphasis on responsible-AI oversight careers (not only engineering) are aimed at broadening who sees themselves in AI leadership, including learners from Title I and under-resourced schools.

Standards alignment

Mapped to the CSTA K-12 CS Standards, AI4K12 Big Ideas 1, 3 & 4, and the ISTE Student Standards. Released under Creative Commons BY 4.0 so any educator can adopt, adapt, and share it.

Who made it

AgenticEd was designed and authored by Jothsna Praveena Pendyala, an AI Platform Architect who builds production agentic-AI systems at enterprise scale. This isn't textbook theory — it's the real technology, made accessible to every classroom.
